David Skinner was born into a musical family. His mother is a pianist and three of his siblings are music educators. David has spent more than thirty years sharing his passion for musical and personal excellence with students. During that span of time he has served as a middle and high school band director, adjunct director of jazz studies, and community concert band conductor.

His concert and jazz bands have traveled extensively to music festivals nationwide, consistently receiving awards for outstanding performance and the highest possible ratings from renowned collegiate adjudicators. An in-demand teacher, he maintains a private trumpet studio, and has taught brass master classes for over twenty-five of South Florida’s finest middle and high school bands. In the marching band arena, David has enjoyed considerable success serving as a music and visual technician, music caption head, program coordinator, music arranger and consultant.

Under his tutelage and/or performing his musical arrangements, four South Florida bands have become Bands of America (BOA) Regional and Super Regional Finalists, as well as Florida Marching Band Coalition (FMBC) Finalists and 2A and 5A State Champions. David’s professional affiliations have included membership in the National Association for Music Education (NAFME), Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA), and the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE). No stranger to The King’s Academy band program, David has served as an adjunct music instructor from time to time (since the mid 1990’s) with directors Randy Kyle, Travis Luttrell and Eric Dunn.

David is a graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic University and a lifelong resident of South Florida, where he and his wife, Lisa, former elementary school teacher, are parents to five children, Matthew, Joshua, Abigail, Madeline and Avalon.
